The XcellerationSM methodology provides NovusCG consultants and engineers with both quantitative and qualitative road maps, drawn from corporate and industry best practices, for the consistent and flawless execution of repeatable tasks — thereby allowing them to focus on the "irregularities" of the necessary solution. Discovery, Analysis and Assessment
NovusCG consultants and engineers thoroughly research the enterprise storage environment in order to assist the customer in defining requirements and arriving at the best solution which will achieve the business and technological goals of the corporation. These Xcellerator directed processes include gathering information on the enterprise's current storage systems, configurations, and hardware and software inventories; the corporation's regulated policies, internal documentation, and processes; arriving at an understanding of the customer's business practices and direction, etc. Design, Integration and Implementation After the Discovery, Analysis and Assessment phase, NovusCG consultants and engineers focus their attention on the Design, Integration, and Implementation of a long-term custom solution that both accommodates the legacy systems and can be extended in the future—thereby increasing the enterprise's Return-On-Investment and decreasing Total-Cost-of-Ownership. To this end, NovusCG will initially work to relieve the major "pain points" experienced by the customer through a stabilization process of the current storage environment. During this phase of an engagement, NovusCG customers can avail themselves of the company's Interoperability Laboratory to explore new technologies and to conduct proof-of-concept testing. In addition, NovusCG's feature-rich portal, The Zone, puts at the fingertips of the customer all information and data pertaining to the project, including all reports and deliverables. Back-Up, Management and Training Equipped with the knowledge of corporate and industry best practices inherent to Xcellerators, in concert with enabling tools, software, and years of experience and expertise, NovusCG consultants and engineers are able to seamlessly and rapidly deploy, back-up, and manage the full complement of enterprise storage services and solutions. This critical component of an Xcellerator is facilitated by thorough documentation and in-depth custom training both on-and off-site. Customer Service and Quality Assurance The commitment of NovusCG's consultants and engineers, in addition to the guidelines made explicit in the Xcellerator, ensure that the customer receives the highest possible level of customer service and quality assurance. The NovusCG Internal Review Board fastidiously updates and hones the company's methodology and Xcellerators to maximize the value our customers receive from our services and solutions. From scoping a project to the process flows to the personnel, skills and tools necessary to successfully complete a given assignment, Xcellerators ensure that all NovusCG consultants and engineers execute their tasks consistently and flawlessly.
The Process Flow Diagram Xcellerator contains "swim lanes" which illustrate the scope, timeframe, roles, responsibility/accountability/ownership of tasks, tools, and documentation necessary in the performance of a specific engagement. For example, scope elements include whether the storage environment is open systems or mainframe, the number of hosts and data centers, and expected duration. Based on this knowledge, the Xcellerator is constructed with metrics that will scale. Consequently, if an Assessment determines that there is twice the number of hosts; NovusCG can use the Xcellerator formulas to calculate the impact such a change will have on timeframe, staffing, cost, etc. Statement of Work The Statement of Work Xcellerator details all work that is to be performed, documentation deliverables, and expected milestones. Deliverable Documentation Deliverable Xcellerators would include a Storage Environment Inventory Checklist, Impact Assessments and Processes, Proof-of-Concept Test Results, Implementation Plans, Knowledge Transfer Methodology, etc. Skills Matrix One of the most important elements of an Xcellerator is the required skills matrix. By defining the actual skills, certifications, and experience necessary for each consultant and engineer to perform a specified role, NovusCG is able to scale to opportunity and ensure that every effort is staffed only by those capable of successfully completing the effort. Project Plans Every NovusCG engagement employs a detailed Project Plan for the successful execution of a particular task. This enables our consultants and engineers to rapidly deliver to the customer the type of granular detail demanded by today's super-enterprise. Pricing Pricing is a natural by-product of the Project Plan and Skills Matrix—which determine what and how the project is to be executed, the length of time it will take to complete the engagement, and what consulting and engineering skills are needed to perform the work.
